The Shelburne Armchair – Whiskey Leather

British Prime Minister 1782-1783

Our Victorian influenced Shelburne has become one of our most iconic and popular pieces.

The 2nd Earl of Shelburne, William Petty-Fitzmaurice, didn’t spend a great amount of time in office – just eight months to be precise. A coalition Government formed and the Opposition soon oversaw Shelburne’s resignation, however his tenure wasn’t without recognition. Shelburne was a large contributor in bringing an end to the American War of Independence. His part in the ‘Peace of Paris’, alongside French under-secretary of state Joseph Matthais Gérard de Rayneval, proved to be his major achievement whilst in power.

Named after Shelburne, our beautifully crafted chair offers a soothing sanctuary to embrace that very peace.

The protruding seat almost pleads to be sat in and offers great character to this courteous, gentleman’s piece. This particular example has been covered hand dyed in stunning whiskey tan. A slightly higher back to our standard Shelburne, finishing at a beautifully over sized 40″. The gentleman’s club style turned legs give the chair bags of additional character, perfect for any room.

It’s everything you need in a chair, comfortable, snazzy and personal.
