The Pelham Chesterfield
British Prime Minister 1743-1754
The Pelham Chesterfield is an artful, refined piece of furniture with such a bold and historic expression.
Rather like Henry Pelham, British Prime Minister for eleven years in the late 18th century. In 1742 a union of parties resulted in the formation of an administration in which Pelham became Prime Minister the following year, with the offices of First Lord of the Treasury, Chancellor of the Exchequer and Leader of the House of Commons. Pelham is a PM with links quite literally close to home... his brother, Thomas Pelham-Holles, was the Duke of Newcastle-upon-Tyne and succeeded him at the helm of the government following Henry's death in 1754.
Being a Prime Minister who was very much peace promoting, he'd most certainly have loved our Pelham Chesterfield sofa. Its design is everything and more that you get with an antique Chesterfield sofa, only new. We finished this particular Manner 1 (scroll down to our crafting menu for more information on our crafting styles) Pelham in a rich oak brown hand dyed leather to really give it some statement making prowess. The eye catching brass studs and timeless casters compliment the fully coil sprung seat, arms and back to make this Pelham the perfect Chesterfield for wowing your guests.
